Lightroom and Photoshop were designed to be simple programs to master, although it may not always seem like it. In this free introductory course, you will understand the basics of Lightroom and Photoshop from a landscape photography perspective, setting you well on your way to creating your very best photographs.
It’s a shame to see beautiful photographs captured with the latest technology get absolutely ruined by the darkroom. Fortunately, though, this is an easy fix.
You see, trying to process an image in Lightroom or Photoshop without understanding the principles is a lot like driving with the emergency brake on. Yes, you may move forward…but you’ll go so much faster if you take your foot off the brake. I’ve pulled some of my best lessons together from my premium training program so you can finally understand how these programs function….which will help you to achieve four very important goals:
- Know what to expect when you press a button or move a slider,
- Learn how to use “creative bumpers” to protect your image from processing damage while giving you the maximum amount of creative freedom,
- Save a massive amount of time behind the computer by cutting the learning curve in half, and
- Gain confidence in your creative abilities as a photographer, and set you well on your way to mastering the digital darkroom.
Lightroom and Photoshop do not have to be complicated or overwhelming. By learning these darkroom principles, you will not only simplify your workflow, but you will find the darkroom a FUN place to be because you now understand exactly what is happening “under the hood”.
And with a program specially designed for landscape photography, you’ll be sure to utilize 100% of this program into your own workflow for creating extraordinary works of art.

Here's What You'll Learn...
Introduction to the Digital Darkroom
For your first course, I'll show you the steps to developing your own creative processing workflow...a blueprint that is based on how YOU create, not someone else. These lessons will dive deep and unpack specific barriers to creativity in the darkroom, and outline the steps to overcome them. This change in perspective will give you the biggest advances in your photography, and will set you up for success before diving into the tactical lessons of Lightroom and Photoshop.
Lightroom is designed to be your raw file organizer and initial processor, even if you mainly create in Photoshop. I find that many photographers have misconceptions about how Lightroom handles their raw files, which can lead to regrettable mistakes and overcomplicating the workflow. In this course, you'll understand how to best use its features to your advantage, providing you with a much shorter (and stable) road to darkroom success.
When it comes to processing landscapes in Photoshop, there are only five main concepts you need to know: layers, masks, smart objects, the brush tool, and luminosity masks. And once you learn them, even the most advanced techniques (like dodging and burning or exposure blending) will make total sense. I’ve simplified these pillars of Photoshop into an easy-to-follow course that will show you just how invaluable this program can be for your photography.
And for your final course, we'll explore some of the most powerful creative techniques of the digital darkroom - ones that both programs utilize. These cross-platform tools hold the key to long-term success in both Lightroom and Photoshop, and will be your go-tos for creating extraordinary photographs that you can be proud of. We'll explore the histogram, curves, white balance, raw profiles, and more.
